- Stroll around the church that's long been loved by the Dutch royal family. It's here that the Dutch king and queen were married!
Spend a day at the Nieuwe Kerk and uncover extraordinary treasures, changing exhibitions and a stunning, age-old interior. El Greco’s Pentecost is now on until 9 April 2017. Take an intimate look at a painting so important that the Prado in Madrid almost never loans it out.
Amsterdam's Nieuwe Kerk marks a special relationship with the Dutch Royal Family. Three kings and three queens have sworn their inaugural oath here, and the current king and queen were married here in 2002. But the changing exhibitions are more than enough reason to come along.
Also, don't forget that, just like in the 17th-century, there's live music to be listened to at De Nieuwe Kerk. The organ plays at 12 noon daily (except Tuesdays).
Masterpiece 2017 (18 February - 9 April)
Now in its sixth installment, the Nieuwe Kerk's Masterpiece series features a different religious painting every year. Previous displayed works include Marc Chagall’s Calvary, Andy Warhol’s The Last Supper and Rembrandt’s The Holy Family. Don't miss the chance to see El Greco's Pentecost - and find out if the Greek painter really painted himself in this magnificent altarpiece.
