Excellent
This was a secret gem. Not crowded in June. The secret garden is lovely. The Papal artifacts, portraits and Papal apartments were amazing. Not a long trip from Rome and worth every penny.

Fantastic guided tour of gardens well worth the visit. Interesting self guided tour of the Palace 1st floor and guided tour of popes apartments on second floor

The grounds were beautiful. I recommend taking the bus tour rather than the walking tour. Bring your own plug on earphones for the audio set.

About: Papal Palace & Gardens of Castel Gandolfo

The Pontifical Villas, commissioned by Pope Urban VIII in the 17th century as a papal country home, are located 25 km south of Rome in the town of Castel Gandolfo.

The property opened to the public in 2014 and covers 55 hectares, including the palace and large gardens built on the 2,000-year-old ruins of Emperor Domitian's residence.
