Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is different. It's true that it's one of the best wildlife attractions in Florida, but the non-profit aquarium's mission extends far beyond your visit.

The facility is actively engaged in conservation, rescue, rehabilitation and release of local wildlife. Since 2010, over 1,200 sea turtles have been rescued and more than 600 animals have been released back into the wild. It's also home to a first-class research facility, and participates in various community education events throughout the year.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is also famous for another reason – it's home to Hope, star of the film Dolphin Tale 2. Both Dolphin Tale and Dolphin Tale 2 were filmed at Clearwater!

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is located in Clearwater, Florida. Forty minutes from Tampa, 90 minutes from Disney World, and a two-hour drive from Orlando, visitors come from far and wide to enjoy Clearwater's beachside aquarium, educational events, sea excursions, and interactive experiences.

There are plenty of fascinating, mysterious creatures at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. As well as rescued dolphins and sea turtles, visitors can see otters, pelicans, sharks, and stingrays. Clearwater also hosts animal experiences, including VIP interactions with dolphins, shark-care experiences, sting ray feeds, and more.

Sadly Winter passed away in 2021. She's survived by her Dolphin Tale 2 co-star and resident rescue dolphin Hope.

Winter rose to fame in the 2011 film Dolphin Tale after her story amazed countless numbers. After becoming entangled in a crab trap line back in 2005, she was rehabilitated at Clearwater and even had a prosthetic tail designed so that she could make a full recovery.

Looking to make the most out of your Clearwater Marine Aquarium tickets? You should really spend 2-3 hours inside the aquarium to enjoy the full experience. If you've got the time, make sure to check out the feeds and other animal experiences.

What's on at Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Clearwater Marine Aquarium has a new family member!

Since December 14, 2021, Clearwater Marine Aquarium has become the forever home of a new, two-year-old dolphin, whom they have lovingly named Apollo.

December continues to be a special month for dolphins at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, with the rescue anniversaries of Hope, Nicholas, Rudolph, and Winter all in the same month.

Rescue and rehabilitation efforts continue throughout the year, so it's always a great time to swing by and show appreciation for the tireless dedication to dolphin conservation the CMA team is proud to embody.

The animals at the Alligator and Wildlife Discovery Center come from various sources such as the FWC, SPCA, wildlife rescues, and individual owners who can no longer care for their pets.
