– This post was written by Emma Levin –
This year is the 74th edition of Keukenhof, Holland’s annual flower festival, and will celebrate the theme, Flower Classics. Walking around 32 hectares for a few hours is certain to make anyone hungry, so plan the perfect day amongst the flowers by checking out the best restaurants at Keukenhof and nearby.
Find the best recommendations for every type of hunger craving in the surrounding area of Keukenhof. Whether you’re visiting the gardens with the kids in tow or on a lovely couple’s stroll, the town of Lisse has something for everyone. With this guide, you can ensure no one goes hungry when you’re planning the perfect visit to the iconic ‘Garden of Europe’.
Best places to eat inside Keukenhof: The Pavilions
When you’re ready to give your legs a break, the Pavilions inside Keukenhof are the perfect spots for some rest and yummy grub. There are a few different pavilions, all of which are named after Dutch royalty, offering the best Dutch delicacies. If you’re looking for a snack for the kiddos, the poffertjes cart (mini-pancakes) by the playground in the Beatrix Pavilion is a safe bet and makes for one of the tastiest restaurants at Keukenhof.
That same pavilion also offers afternoon tea and treats near the Japanese greenhouses. The Wilhamena Pavilion has the most variety, with a food court-like atmosphere, serving authentic Dutch dishes. Keep in mind that cash is not accepted at any of the eateries inside the park.
Best spot for coffee and breakfast: Qoffee and More
17-minute walk from Keukenhof
If you’re looking for a cup of joe and morning pastries to start your day right, then head to Qoffee and More in Lisse. This concept store is unlike any other cafe as it infuses a strong passion for the planet into every detail. In addition to serving delicious coffee, you can also pick up some incredible vegan skincare here at another of the most interesting restaurants at Keukenhof! They take environmentalism very seriously by roasting their coffee using solar energy and recycling all their coffee waste. Talk about a perfect day honoring the plants! If you’re craving a sugary treat, the chocolate cake comes highly recommended.

Best spot for a traditional Dutch meal: Het Oude Dykhuys
30-minute walk from Keukenhof
If you’re hoping to fully embrace the Dutch lifestyle, then plan a visit to Het Oude Dykhuys. This is an authentic Dutch restaurant at Keukenhof that is set on the water’s edge and beloved by both locals and tourists alike. This delicious eatery is a good choice for either lunch or dinner, but keep in mind this restaurant is a bit on the pricier side. It is a Michelin-recommended restaurant after all! With that being said, you can’t go wrong with any of the dishes, but the brined salmon and scallops is unforgettable.
Best spot for lunch: Trattoria Panini
15-minute walk from Keukenhof
Trattoria Panini is an easy, unassuming spot to grab a delicious lunch for you and your travel buddies. This traditional family place is one of the coziest restaurants at Keukenhof and will certainly delight your taste buds with its simplistic Italian dishes. The restaurant is only a 15-minute walk from Keukenhof, so it’s an easy journey to make in between wandering the tulips. The eggplant parmigiana starter is a must-try, including their delicious homemade pesto.
Best spot for a family meal: Brasserie Cafetaria Family Lisse
19-minute walk from Keukenhof
If you’re looking for a restaurant at Keukenhof to make the kids happy, then look no further than Brasserie Cafetaria Family Lisse. Guaranteed to please both the parents and young kids, this family-style restaurant is wonderfully delicious, welcoming, and cozy. It’s under a 20-minute walk from the Keukenhof Gardens, so you won’t have to go far for a tasty meal. We recommend trying the ribs!
Best spot for authentic Italian dishes: Ristorante Il Mulino
15-minute walk from Keukenhof
Ristorante Il Mulino is only a 15-minute walk from the park and is known for its incredible hospitality, welcoming atmosphere, and authentic Sicilian dishes. Don’t be surprised if the owner pops by your table for a visit and you walk out of the restaurant with new friends! Reviewers recommend trying the ravioli or seafood pasta, paired with some Italian wine of course. If you’re visiting with your family or a large group of friends, don’t forget to book a reservation. Eet smakelijk!
Best spot to pack a picnic: Albert Heijn
20-minute walk from Keukenhof
Keukenhof is the perfect day-out for tourists on a budget. You can avoid all restaurants at Keukenhof by bringing your own food into the park, which is a welcome relief for those saving a few euros. So, grab your trusty backpack and picnic blanket before stopping over at Albert Heijn on your way to the park. There are quite a few supermarkets in the town of Lisse, but Albert Heijn is the largest, so it’s guaranteed to have a yummy treat for everyone in your tour group. It’s no doubt that a picnic surrounded by tulips is an anthophile’s dream!
