Housed in the stunning Beaux-Arts style Gare d'Orsay railway station, The Musée d'Orsay is home to significant and stunning works by painters including Gauguin, Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, and Van Gogh. It's widely considered to be one of the most culturally important museums in the world.

Its entire collection is from the period 1848-1914, including many of the most significant Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings ever created. Chronologically, the works come after those of the neighboring Louvre, and before the collection of the nearby Pompidou Centre.

Léon Spilliaert (1881-1946). Light and Solitude

This Spilliaert exhibition – the first in France for nearly 40 years – takes us back to the years between 1900 and 1919, the most intense in Léon Spilliaert's career. See his most radical works, depicting the Belgian artist's infinite metaphysical questions and Flemish culture. Spilliaert was inspired by the pictorial works of Odilon Redon and James Ensor, as well as the writings of Émile Verhaeren and Maurice Maeterlinck. While Symbolism was a huge part of his repertoire, he flirted with Expressionism via wild-eyed faces, and minimalism via sleek landscapes. Many of his works are mystifying, and a few uncategorizable pieces will surprise you. ...

Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898)

Spirited and masterful, bold, erotic, and unorthodox. All are words used to describe Beardsley’s highly personal style. Yet like many young artists who died too soon, Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898) passed away aged 25, just as his fame was taking off. Step into his world and explore the works that made him a leading name in the 1890s London scene, in the first monographic display in France to focus on this original creator. ...
