About: Blarney Castle

Blarney Castle is a medieval fortification located in Blarney, in County Cork, Ireland. With a history stretching all the back to 1200 CE, the current keep was built by the MacCarthy of Muskerry dynasty, and dates from around 1446. The world-famous Blarney Stone is located at the top of the castle, and is said to grant those who kiss the stone with a "magical gift of the gab", or enhanced powers of eloquence. The Castle and its fabled magical stone are among the most-visited cultural landmarks in all of Ireland, and make for some exceptional views across the beautiful countryside of Cork.
