Designed as a fusion between art and nature, the sculptures are integrated into the landscape as if they had always been part of it. The museum also features the Caserío Zabalaga, a restored 16th-century farmhouse where Chillida's smaller-scale works, and works too fragile to be housed outside, are displayed in rotating temporary exhibitions.

It makes for an easy day-trip from Bilbao or San Sebastián and is located right off the Basque coastline.
