The conductor didn't recognize the electronic ticket, but took me to the office that did and gave me a ID bracelet. I always take these double deck intro tours in a new city. Unfortunately, Medellin is not a place of great architectual interest; it is a place of social and infrastructure innovation, wonderful weather and dramatic geography. But, compared to other places, it was a modern city with big condo towers, malls, next to impoverished downtown and hillside zones. I am glad that the half day tour did NOT include a trip to a seedy downtown to see some unattractive statues of grossly obese figures (Botero), or to a formerly dangerous shanty that is now graffiti central. The staff were gracious, knowlegeable and multilingual; it's just that there was precious little content for them to thrill the visitor.
