Laguna Catemaco is a lake located in south central Veracruz, in east central Mexico. The lake is a famous local fishing spot, with the most popular catch being 'pepescas', relatively small freshwater fish. Laguna Catemaco is also known for its 'monkey island', which is home to a substantial stump-tailed macaque population.
