The Stadium of Domitian was commissioned by Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus in 80 AD (the same year he also completed the Colosseum). The stadium is located to the north of Rome's Campus Martius and it was Rome's first permanent venue for athletic sports. In its heyday, it could hold up to 20,000 spectators. This impressive UNESCO site is linked to Piazza Navona, which was built 4.5 meters above the ruins. Entry to the underground stadium has only been open to the public since 2014.

The Catacombs of Domitilla are not the most visited in Rome, but remain some of the most important. Some of the rooms are richly decorated, others house the tombs of the martyrs who, during the Middle Ages, attracted the devotion of numerous pilgrims. This sprawling underground Christian cemetery is named after the Domitilla family, who ordered them to be dug. The Catacombs of Domitilla are situated over 16 meters underground, about two kilometers from the south of Appia Antica, and span 15 kilometers in distance beneath the streets of Rome.
