Il Museo di Storia di Sacramento è ospitato in una riproduzione dell'edificio del municipio e dell'acquedotto del 1854, che si trova anche nel territorio tradizionale e nelle patrie ancestrali del popolo tribale Nisenan. La Valle di Sacramento era, ed è ancora, una terra che è stata abitata per migliaia di anni da tempo immemorabile dai Nisenan, Miwok, Patwin e Maidu.
Il museo esplora le fondamenta della prima storia di Sacramento attraverso manufatti, archivi, video e mostre interattive che rendono omaggio alle popolazioni indigene e ai coloni che hanno contribuito a formare la Città Indomabile.
