Abbaye du Mont Saint-Michel
The striking Abbaye du Mont Saint-Michel is a medieval masterpiece situated in the city and island of Mont-Saint-Michel in Lower Normandy. It was one of the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites and remains a popular tourist draw. Built at a height of 80 meters it offers jaw-dropping views of the coast and bay.
Visitors can explore the Romanesque and Gothic architecture in several rooms, as well as the salty seaside surroundings.
The Abbaye du Mont Saint-Michel is on a tiny island off the coast of Normandy. This UNESCO World Heritage Site makes for a stunning daytrip.
Surrounding the island at low tide are miles of sand flats. There were groups in various stages of hikes to a neighboring island. We hope they had time before the next tide.
If you are adventurous, and the tide is out, hike to the small chapel at the waters edge for a unique adventure.
