If you're looking for a fairy-tale adventure, you can't beat the stunning natural spectacle that awaits in Kuala Selangor. This rural region is home to one of the largest firefly colonies in the whole world!

Before being rowed under the cover of darkness to the flickering mangrove swamps to watch fireflies in action, you'll explore Malaysia's Dutch colonial past with a visit to the execution blocks and royal mausoleum in Kota Melawati fort. You'll also spot exotic birds and feed silvered leaf monkeys curious macaques!

  • The tour operator will contact you via email to arrange pick-up from your hotel in the Kuala Lumpur City Center after receiving the reservation
  • You will be picked up from your hotel lobby. Please be ready at least 15 minutes prior to the pick-up time agreed upon
  • Show your smartphone tickets to the guide/driver
  • The timeline and activities are not fixed and is subjected to weather conditions, human traffic and may be rearranged to best meet operational needs
  • If your hotel is located outside the Kuala Lumpur City Center you have to pay a surcharge when you get picked up.

  • 5:00pm arrive at Kota Melawati (formerly known as Fort Altingsburg)
  • Weekday by walking tour (15-20mins to Bukit Melawati), Weekend with Tram service
  • 6:00pm depart to restaurant in Kuala Selangor
  • 6:30pm enjoy local seafood set dinner
  • 7:30pm Depart to Jetty for registration
  • 8:00pm Boarding and observe fireflies
  • 10:00pm Hotel drop off in Kuala Lumpur City Centre and Bukit Bintang area

The tour and the experience is highly recommended! Kak Ning is an amazing tour guide, so friendly and knowledgeable about Malaysia. Her love for her country and her job shines through, so impressive. (She is also a viral TikTok legend). I also loved the experience with the monkeys and the fireflies- really authentic and had a lot of fun seeing the natural beauty of Malaysia. The meal included in the package was so delicious as well! Had so much fun.
