Schynige Platte: Roundtrip Rack Railroad From Wilderswil

For 125 years, cogwheel trains have been chugging from Wilderswil up to Schynige Platte mountain ridge. Now, it's your turn. Breathe in the fresh mountain air, admire Lake Thun, and gaze up at the peaks of Eiger, Monch, and the mighty Jungfrau during a 50-minute ride.

Once at Schynige Platte, take in a traditional alphorn concert (between 11am and 2pm) and see the famous edelweiss flowers among the 650 species in bloom at the Alpine Garden.

There are various seasonal hikes on offer, letting you catch epic views of your mountain surroundings. For kids, an extra reward for taking the train up 2,000 meters is Lily's Alpine Playground; there aren't many playgrounds on Earth with as good a view as this!

You'll also find a restaurant, a bistro, and everything else you need to enjoy a full day in the great Swiss outdoors.
