Bazylika katedralna Santa Maria Assunta jest głównym miejscem kultu katolickiego w Orvieto, w prowincji Terni.
Budowa kościoła rozpoczęła się w 1290 roku na polecenie papieża Mikołaja IV, z zamiarem stworzenia jednej dużej katedry dla miasta w celu zastąpienia dwóch kościołów, które istniały wcześniej na placu.
