The WWF Wood of Vanzago, more commonly known as the "Bosco WWF di Vanzago" is a protected natural area, managed by the World Wildlife Foundation Italy, and is just 23 km from Piazza Duomo in Milan. A remnant of what was once the forest of the Po Valley, the one-time hunting reserve and the surrounding areas and structures were "inherited" by World Wildlife Foundation, which consequently converted them into protected wildlife conservation zones. In addition to the lowland forest, there are also wetlands and cultivated fields that are home to dozens of species of flora and fauna. There is also a Center for the Recovery of Wild Animals where every year thousands of animals in difficulty are rehabilitated.
