The Australian Sports Museum is exceptionally well arranged, showcasing a wide range of authentic clothing, medals, and sporting equipment. What stood out most during my visit was the Shane Warne Exhibition. In the cricket section, visitors can listen to a 3D projected Shane Warne speaking about his career, which is a truly memorable experience.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) Museum, located within the cricket section, is somewhat tucked away, but it is a real gem, filled with fascinating artefacts and stories. Overall, it was a great and memorable experience!

What a great thing to do in Melbourne. Peter, our guide was so knowledgable. He took us through the public and player only areas, into the member only areas and explained all memorabilia we came across, along the way. So good to have a better understanding of such an Australian icon and be able to visualise all the different areas, next time we watch a match played there. Well, well worth the visit. To finish off we went through the sports museum, which was so comprehensive and really gave a great idea of Australia as a sporting nation.

Melbourne Cricket Grounds: Guided Tour

Lord's, Wembley, Old Trafford, Eden Gardens og Yankee Stadium betragtes som blandt de største sportsarenaer i verden, men for historie, rent drama og følelser er det svært at se forbi Melbourne Cricket Ground. Grunden blev bygget helt tilbage i 1853, da den daværende 15-årige Melbourne Cricket Club blev tvunget af regeringen til at flytte fra sit tidligere sted, fordi ruten for Australiens første damptog skulle passere gennem det ovale.

Siden da har MCG været vært for masser af international cricket, herunder den første Test nogensinde og VM-finalen i 1992, utallige VFL/AFL Grand Finals og de olympiske lege i 1956.

Andre sportsbriller, der afholdes her, er australske VM-kvalifikationskampe, rugbyliga hjemme- og udekampe og oprindelsesstat, internationale rugbyunionskampe og Commonwealth Games i 2006.
