My wife and I recently had the immense pleasure of celebrating her birthday aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train, and it was, simply put, a perfect experience. If you’re looking for a unique, romantic, and truly memorable way to celebrate a special occasion, I cannot recommend this journey enough.
From the moment we stepped onto the beautifully restored vintage Pullman car, we felt transported to another era of elegant travel. The train itself is a work of art—luxurious, immaculate, and the perfect setting for a celebratory lunch.
We opted for the gourmet lunch experience, and the meal was the absolute highlight of the trip. Everything was prepared fresh on board, and the quality was exceptional—it truly rivaled that of the finest restaurants in the valley. We enjoyed a multi-course meal that was expertly paired with local Napa wines, elevating the whole experience. The service, too, was impeccable. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring every detail was taken care of without being intrusive.
As we savored our delicious food and wine, the stunning Napa Valley scenery glided past our window. There’s something magical about watching the vineyards roll by from the comfort of a luxury train car—it provides a totally different, stress-free perspective of the region.
This wasn't just lunch; it was an event. It provided the perfect blend of romance, luxury, and culinary excellence, making my wife's birthday celebration absolutely unforgettable.
Napa Valley Wine Train: Gourmet Express Lunch or Dinner (11:30, 18:30)
Het populaire Aquarium of the Bay in San Fransisco ligt aan Pier 39. Zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, ligt de focus in het aquarium op alle waterdieren uit de baai van San Francisco en de nabijgelegen wateren. Er zijn drie grote expositieruimtes, waar de tentoonstellingen elk een ander thema hebben. Het meest sensationele van het aquarium is de lange onderwatertunnel, al doen de interactieve bassins en de lezingen van de biologen hier zeker niet voor onder. Tijdens een bezoek aan Aquarium of the Bay leer je de baai op een leuke en interactieve manier kennen!
Het Legion of Honor is het mooiste museum van San Francisco en het heeft ook nog eens uitzicht op de iconische Golden Gate Bridge in Lincoln Park. Bekijk werken uit de Oudheid, Europese kunst, mummies, sculpturen en De Denker van Rodin. Sommige werken in dit museum zijn ruim 4000 jaar oud en de schitterende setting doet volledig recht aan de schoonheid van de kunstwerken.
Kom je met het openbaar vervoer? Neem dan bus #18, want die gaat direct naar het Legion of Honor.
De Snøhetta-uitbreiding (afgerond in 2016) verdubbelde de expositieruimte van het SFMOMA. Ook op architectonisch gebied had het een positieve uitwerking - de uitbreiding was een grote positieve injectie voor de architectuur in de South Market-buurt van San Francisco. De permanente collectie van het SFMOMA bestaat uit 33.000 werken, en er zijn ook altijd een aantal tijdelijke tentoonstellingen. Ben je in SoMa (South Market) in San Francisco, maak dan absoluut even tijd voor het SFMOMA.
Het Exploratorium is een interactief museum in San Francisco waar je los kan gaan met meer dan 650 praktijkgerichte tentoonstellingen. Verken de wereld aan de hand van wetenschap, kunst en menselijke waarneming, en laat je verbluffen. Het Exploratorium bevindt zich op Pier 15 op The Embarcadero.
Van de schitterende koperen gevel tot de omvangrijke collectie, San Francisco's de Young Museum voor hedendaagse kunst en design is een must voor kunstliefhebbers. Het museum ligt vlakbij de California Academy of Sciences en de Botanische Tuinen, en het gehele museumcomplex is omringd door het prachtige Golden Gate Park.
