A long day’s tour but one that’s worth it if you want to go beyond Reykjavík itself but don’t want to rent a car etc. The Golden Circle tour covers the Parliamentary Plains (in winter you’ll get there just as sunrise hits the landscape), the Gullfoss waterfalls, hot spring geysers and Kerio meteor crater - and if you have time, maybe a stop for some Icelandic ponies!). There’s no food or snacks provided but you will stop for an hour or so at the geyser visitors centre where you can replenish. This trip though does offer access to just a taste of the stunning scenery and landscapes of Iceland, but over two of the stops are quite quick to keep the journey on time. In winter, wear good outdoor clothing as it can get very cold and windy.

Als je naar Reykjavik en Vik komt, zal de gloeiend hete Lava Show je brandende verlangen stillen om een vulkaan van dichtbij te zien. Zoiets! Deze verbluffende faciliteit biedt plaats aan iets meer dan 100 mensen, voor een ervaring met vulkanische uitstoot die alle zintuigen prikkelt. Beide locaties hebben verschillende verhaallijnen, gericht op de meest catastrofale uitbarstingen in de IJslandse geschiedenis. Voel zelf de intense hitte die van gesmolten lava afstraalt als een echte vulkaanuitbarsting voor je neus wordt nagespeeld!
Het Perlan Museum is gevestigd in Reykjavik en is goed bereikbaar per auto en gratis shuttlebus. De gletsjertentoonstelling en de ijsgrot zijn de hoogtepunten van het museum!
Het 360°-observatieplatform biedt het beste uitzicht op de stad, haar bergen en de rest van de omgeving.
Raufarhólshellir is een van de langste en bekendste lavatunnels van IJsland. Bezoekers komen binnen met een gids, en leren alles over het binnenste van een vulkaan.
Het ligt op slechts 30 minuten van Reykjavik, en is het hele jaar door te bezoeken.
