The SS Jeremiah O'Brien is one of two remaining and operating Liberty ships of more than 2,700 built during World War II. The ship is world famous as the only surviving American cargo ship that served at D-Day in 1944. Almost all of the ship is open to visitors, including the engine room. You can visit the decks that transported Patton's tanks to Europe and the massive holds that delivered explosives to the Pacific. The ship is a symbol of American ingenuity and perseverance, run by volunteers and located at Pier 35.

The SFMOMA's permanent collection is a whopping 33,000 works, and there are always temporary exhibitions as well. When in San Francisco's SoMa make time for the SFMOMA.
