As grandparents we took our two Grandsons 8 and 12. They absolutely loved it. We spent all day there. They were really interested in the history of the prison and being able to go round the whole...
As grandparents we took our two Grandsons 8 and 12. They absolutely loved it. We spent all day there. They were really interested in the history of the prison and being able to go round the whole area. The pancake mystery was great as it kept them focused.

About: Shepton Mallet Prison

Shepton Mallet Prison, often known as Cornhill or The Mallet, housed its first inmates in 1625. When it closed in 2013, it was Britain's oldest prison and housed 189 prisoners. It fell under Category C in the UK's prison classification system – those who cannot be trusted in open conditions but who are unlikely to try to escape.
