Getting there:
- By foot: About 45 minutes walking from the center of Sintra
- Bus: Scotturb Line 434 (Pena circuit) from Sintra Train Station
- Train from Lisbon (Estação do Oriente, Estação do Rossio, or Estação de Entrecampos)
- Please note that the venue is not reachable by car
Transfer services:
- There is a paid transfer service available bringing guests from the park entrance to the palace. The service runs every 15 minutes and is wheelchair accessible
- There's a free hop-on hop-off transfer service available between the Palace and the Chalet of the Countess of Edla. Simply show your entrance ticket and hop on!

Terrible
This was a terrible tour right from the start. We arrived 10 minutes early to meet our guide who was supposed to have a red flag. There was a guide, amongst all the other guides, carrying a blue...
This was a terrible tour right from the start. We arrived 10 minutes early to meet our guide who was supposed to have a red flag. There was a guide, amongst all the other guides, carrying a blue flag with not many people around him. We approached him after 5 minutes of waiting and he explained that we were on his list.
Unfortunately, there were many others who did not find our guide within time and as a result we waited an extra 15 minutes until getting through the gate. So the tour actually started about 20 minutes late.
The guide stopped at inappropriate places to explain things and rather than presenting us with information, he persisted in asking if any of us on the tour knew about this and that.
The worst was we then had to wait 35 minutes in line to see the main attraction. That is OK, but the guide stopped us short of the line up to explain the significance the attraction. Why the hell would he not have got us in the line and then explain it as we were waiting? More time wasted.
Overall a bad experience and I would like a refund as we simply didn't get sufficient time to see everything there.
Also, the ticket was a group ticket so if we had have left for a snack or the like, we would not have been able to get back in.

When I bought the ticket, I thought that I would get an audio guide (as in other places, something that I can download and play through my phone. To my great surprise, I actually booked a private tour and my guide's name was Bruno. I want to thank him and I would recommend it to everyone. He showed me Quinta da Regaleira in a way that ordinary audios could not. Bruno thanks for sharing the knowledge, I look forward to coming again.
