About: Priori Palace

Il Palazzo dei Priori, an emblematic monument of civic power, was initially designed as the residence of the Governor of the Patrimony of St. Peter in Tuscia. However, it became the Priori's headquarters in 1510. Today, visitors can explore several areas of the Palazzo, including the Palatine Chapel, home to the artistic works of Filippo Cavarozzi and Marzio Ganassini.

The Sala della Madonna is dedicated to the protector of the Diocese: the Madonna della Quercia. The Royal Hall features frescoes of the castles that were under Viterbo's dominion on the ceiling and Baldassarre Croce's late 16th-century frescoes.

Viterbo Sotterranea

Viterbo Sotterranea is a labyrinth of underground passageways and caves under the city of Viterbo. It is believed to date as far back as the Etruscan era (900 BCE - 100 BCE). The tunnels were expanded during the medieval period and were used for covert travel and strategic movement around the city.
