What a great thing to do in Melbourne. Peter, our guide was so knowledgable. He took us through the public and player only areas, into the member only areas and explained all memorabilia we came across, along the way. So good to have a better understanding of such an Australian icon and be able to visualise all the different areas, next time we watch a match played there. Well, well worth the visit.
To finish off we went through the sports museum, which was so comprehensive and really gave a great idea of Australia as a sporting nation.

Melbourne Cricket Grounds: Guided Tour
About: Melbourne Cricket Ground
Lord’s, Wembley, Old Trafford, Eden Gardens and Yankee Stadium are considered among the greatest sporting arenas in the world, but for history, pure drama and emotion, it’s hard to look past the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The ground was built way back in 1853 when the then 15-year-old Melbourne Cricket Club was forced by the government to move from its former site because the route of Australia’s first steam train was to pass through the oval.
Since then the MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, and the 1956 Olympic Games.
Other sporting spectacles held here are Australian World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin, international rugby union clashes and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Madame Tussauds Sydney is a fun-packed and family-friendly museum with lifelike figures of celebrities, located in Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia. Come and hang out with your favourite stars, sporting heroes, fashion models, the Justice League and more!
