Tickets overview

  • One of Italy's most famous landmarks

  • Its real purpose is to serve as the bell tower of Pisa Cathedral

  • The tower has seven bells, one for each musical note, and the largest weighs three and a half tonnes!

  • It stands at 56.67-meters tall (although its sunken side is around 80 centimeters shorter at 55.86 meters)

  • The tower dates back to the 12th century, and even started to leaning during construction due to soft ground that couldn't support the tower's 14,500 ton weight

  • The Leaning Tower of Pisa is covered in architectural details, so keep an eye out for wall reliefs and decorations on its columns

As one of Tuscany's most famous landmarks, you'll want to book your ticket in advance.

If you want to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa, you'll need a ticket with a timeslot.

Leaning Tower of Pisa tickets include:

  • Fast-track access to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption

  • You can take photos for private use, so get ready to go snap happy

  • Children under 8 are not allowed inside the tower and children aged 9-18 require adult supervision before climbing

  • There is a free cloakroom – before climbing the tower, you must leave your luggage and bags here (even small handbags and purses)

  • Only guide dogs can enter the Piazza del Duomo (the square where you'll find the leaning tower), so leave your pets at home

  • The Leaning Tower of Pisa is not wheelchair accessible, but other sights in the Piazza dei Miracoli are

  • To get there, take a train to Pisa and alight at the central station. From there, it's a 20-minute walk, or you can take a cab or a bus to the Pisa Cathedral

There turned out to be only two of us so we had a very nice, private tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Good communication from Tiquets re ticket pick up ( if I had read it properly). Would have been good to know that bags had to put in the lockers (which were free with your ticket).

About: Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most famous attractions in Italy, known for its iconic diagonal tilt. Constructed over the course of 199 years, the tower originally dates back to 1173 when it was built during an especially prosperous period in Pisa's history.

Drawing over one million visitors per year, the tower was off-limits to guests between 1990 and 2001 for safety reasons. Following a decade of corrective reconstruction, it is now once again able to hold visitors for centuries to come.
