I've always wanted to see the tar pits and I wasn't disappointed. Of course, I loved the museum, but the "lake" of tar with its bubbles and that cool popping sound was my favorite. The grounds are beautiful and I wish I had my dogs with me to enjoy it as well. The gift shop was very cool, and I bought a small bottle of actual tar for my grandchild to open and spill on her mother's carpet. It's said to have a tiny fake fossil inside.
