Tips for visiting Georgia Aquarium

You can walk around the Georgia Aquarium in about 3-4 hours and get a good look at everything this way without rushing. Of course, if you stop to take selfies with all the amazing animals, you might find yourself there even longer. Weekends are usually the busiest times, so make sure you get there early!

Hungry bellies don't need to rumble for long, thanks to the awesome food inside Café Aquaria. Café Aquaria is the only dining option inside Georgia Aquarium but there's something for everyone, from a nice selection of salads and wraps to a buffet-style lunch spread with meat and veggie options. There's also a grill, so line up for your pizzas, burgers and chicken tenders, all cooked to order.

It can get a little crowded over the lunch period, so be sure to get there early. Prices are comparable to food sold at a concert stadium or arena, but the food is a lot better!

Hint: Head upstairs and you'll find a lot more seating that you can't see from the ground level. You can also get free refills on soft drinks!

If you want to skip the lines, which can get really long especially during weekends, it's best to get the Georgia Aquarium: Fast Track ticket. This will let you float on past the crowds like a jellyfish and straight into the aquatic action. It'll get you admission to all the galleries, including the 'Sharks! Predators of the Deep' Gallery.

You can also get Georgia Aquarium tickets as part of the Atlanta CityPASS, along with admission to the World of Coca-Cola and a selection of the city's other top attractions, including Zoo Atlanta, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Fernbank Museum of Natural History, and the College Football Hall of Fame.

One of the best times to plan a Georgia Aquarium visit is in the middle of the week (Monday – Thursday). You'll also avoid most of the school groups on field trips if you go between lunch and dinner time.

If you really have to go in the morning, try to get there early and plan your route so you move quickly, before the crowds catch up!

No outside food or drinks are allowed in the Georgia Aquarium, unless it's just small snacks for children or special supplies for people with food allergies. The aquarium has several water bottle filling stations, so do bring a refillable water bottle with you.

Georgia Aquarium has established – and strictly enforces – a “No Weapons” policy. Leave your firearms and knives at home, folks.

You can, and should, bring a fully charged phone for photos. But if your battery dies, there's a lounge with six charging stations sponsored by Southwest Airlines® on the second level of the Rotunda above Café Aquaria.

Good
The highlights were the “Ocean Discovery” viewing room, the Beluga whales, and the Octopus. Skip the dolphin show and try to go later in day on a weekday to avoid school field trips.
