About: Cloître de Cadouin
Cadouin Abbey, located in a valley within the Bessède forest between the Dordogne river and the Couze, was founded in 1115 and joined the Cistercian order in 1119.
Despite monastic activity ending in 1790 during the revolution, the abbey, including its late 15th-century Gothic cloister, remains a notable example of Gothic architecture.
