Pinacoteca
This beautiful Baroque residence, with vaulted ceilings frescoed at the beginning of the 17th century by Umbrian and Tuscan painters, bears witness to the political, civil and religious evolution of the city. Among the most valuable works in the collection are Madonna Enthroned with Child attributed to Giotto and the Virgin and Child, detached from Porta San Giacomo and attributed to the young Perugino.
Roman Forum
The ancient Roman Forum was buried under today’s Piazza del Comune in the 1st century BC), and discovered during excavations carried out in 1836. See a collection of epigraphs, stones, steles and other materials that all tell the history of the ancient Umbrian settlement, which would later become an important Roman municipality.
Don't miss the underground space and the Romanesque crypt, where you can see sarcophagi, capitals and inscriptions from Assisi and its surroundings on display.
Rocca Maggiore
Although temporarily closed for renovation, the Rocca Maggiore is a fortress that stands on a hill above the town Assisi and can definitely be admired from the outside! The castle dominated the citadel of Assisi and the valley of Tescio for over 800 years. From here you can still admire an extraordinary view of the city.
