Important information

  • See a collection of Rembrandt's etchings and sketches in temporary exhibitions in the adjacent museum
  • Enjoy a daily etching and painting demonstration, and discover how the artist's paints were made
  • See objects that existed in Rembrandt's time like daily household items, possessions, and weaponry

Visit the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam, where the famed painter once operated his largest studio before facing financial difficulties.

Explore a curated selection of Rembrandt's etchings and sketches, offering a glimpse into life during the 17th century in his beautifully restored townhouse.

Between 1639 and 1658, Rembrandt resided and worked in this historic Amsterdam residence, where he amassed an extensive collection of seashells alongside his artwork.

Displayed alongside military artifacts and Roman busts, the museum offers an authentic glimpse into Rembrandt's life and interests, including works by his aspiring pupils.

Take a look at the museum's period-specific furniture, art, and objects, providing insight into the artist's world and the influence of Rembrandt in the world of art.

Show your Rembrandt House Museum tickets at the entrance on your smartphone.

Accessibility:

The museum is partly accessible to people with disabilities. The main entrance, museum shop, auditorium, toilets, and exhibition halls are fully accessible to all visitors. Plus there's an elevator in the new wing. However, the 17th-century house of Rembrandt has no elevator or other facilities available for disabled people and is therefore not very accessible.
