The Jewish Historical Museum is spread throughout four monumental synagogues. The permanent exhibitions tell the story of Jewish culture and history in the Netherlands. One part of it - the junior Jewish Museum - is set up as the home of a typical Jewish family. Directly opposite the Jewish Historical Museum is the stunning 17th-century Portuguese Synagogue. Unassuming on the outside, the interior of this holy place is stunning - and still used for services today.
