Monserrate: Funicular or Cable Car Roundtrip

A site of pilgrimage for centuries, the steep incline and 1.5-mile hike to the mountaintop church-sanctuary offers up incredible views over Bogotá. But, you don't have to be religious – or a hiker – to make the most of this Monserrate ticket.

Take the Monserrate funicular to the top to experience an unusual train ride, or race to the top inside a cable car. Make sure to visit the monastery and see El Señor Caído (The Fallen Lord) or to try and catch the sunset from the mountaintop.

Whether you're there for pilgrimage or for panoramas, you're on hallowed ground. The Monserrate mountain's importance stretches back to the indigenous Muisca, who dubbed it Quijicha Caca (Grandmother's Foot), and they would watch the sun – represented by their god Sué – rise from behind the mountain every June solstice.

• Head to the transportation access line: Funicular or Cable Car and present your QR code at the turnstiles
• In case you cannot display your QR code, you can provide the numeric code to one of the employees. If you don't have the QR or numeric code, you will need to purchase the ascent or descent ticket, depending on the case
