Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed all the areas we got to explore and we would not have seen as much as we did if not for the walking tour. The only issue we had was the meeting place is very confusing. The guide should be there at least 30 minutes early and have some sort of way to let the guests know that they are in the right place.

Un tempo famigerata prigione offshore dove furono rinchiusi alcuni dei più famigerati criminali americani come "Scarface" Al Capone e "Birdman" Robert Stroud, Alcatraz è oggi un'attrazione turistica gestita dal National Parks Service. Raggiungibile in traghetto, l'isola ospita il più antico faro in funzione sulla costa occidentale degli Stati Uniti e ospita grandi colonie di gabbiani, garzette e cormorani che, volteggiando sopra la testa, contribuiscono a creare l'atmosfera dell'isola.
