The Galleria Spada is a charming little gem; peaceful, uncrowded, yet brimming with artistic treasures. I was particularly excited to see works I had been looking forward to, such as those by Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi, alongside delightful surprises like pieces by Lavinia Fontana. Even more rewarding were the unexpected discoveries, paintings I’d never even heard of before.
What truly made the visit unforgettable, however, was Borromini’s perspective gallery. I hadn’t realised it was part of the Galleria, and it turned out to be the absolute highlight of my entire trip to Rome. A mesmerising blend of art and illusion that I won’t soon forget.
