Highlights

  • See the beautiful and lively Lipizzan horses in action as you witness their morning training in the stunning Spanish Riding School

  • For those who love horses this is a must-see, and for those who love history - the Lippizan is Europe's oldest breed of horse

Description

Experience the magic of the famous Lipizzan or Lipizzaner horses here at Vienna's Spanish Riding School. See the intelligent, lively Lipizzan horses in action as their trainers run them through the haute école or 'high school' of classical dressage - including their spectacular jump kicks. Watch 450 years of Lippizan tradition at work, as horse and rider take to the grounds, accompanied by classical Viennese music.

The Spanish Riding School is one of Vienna's most beautiful buildings, but what's inside is even more beautiful. This ticket gets you into the school to witness the training exercises the world-famous Lippizan stallions do with their trainers. You'll see soothing relaxation exercises (horse yoga?) as well as some of the more rigorous ones too.

You may even see some of the acrobatic School Jumps these horses are known for. They're not practiced every day, but you may get lucky. The whole experience is set to a score of Viennese classical music.

Originally bred by the Habsburgs to act as military steeds and royal mounts, these four-legged show-offs were once stabled in the courtyard of every royal household in central Europe. They're groomed to perfection, love to entertain, and know exactly how to enchant an audience.

With this mesmerizing morning experience you'll get to see some of the 'equestrian ballet' that makes the Lippizan, Europe’s oldest and most graceful horse breed, so revered.

The morning training had me spellbound. So much so that I went to the afternoon guided tour as well. A most enjoyable and interesting day.

Didn't expect to only see the horses trotting (could have watched horses in a field ) one rider even yawning obviously bored and many spectators leaving. Whilst queuing the video showed the horses doing many sequences, nothing was done, the highlight was one horse going on its hind legs which was lovely but 5mins of a 2 hour show.

I would like to say this was a very simple way to prebook your training visit. Top tip you DO NOT need to turn up bang on 1000 to get it, turn up at 1030/1040 when the queue has gone down as you still queue as you need to change your electronic ticket for a paper ticket, that ticket is then valid for an entire 12months - ours was for the training session only - so if going back why not keep hold of it. Training session lasts 3hrs, each separate portion of training last 30mins, fabulous to experience. Tiqets was also a little cheaper than on the day!

An hour was enough to watch the horses doing their daily exercise.
Very repetitive.

It is necessary to exchange your e ticket for a paper ticket when you arrive, to be able to pass through the turnstiles. Choose the queue of with ticket, as it is faster.
The morning training is well worth doing.

Es ist schon einfacher online Tickets zu bestellen. Aber leider muss man noch an den Ticketschalter und sich die Tickets ausdrucken lassen!
