  • Get a fun guided tour of one of Austria’s most beautiful Baroque palaces. The glittering Mirror Hall is a particularly ornate highlight
  • Explore a palace that's housed the powerful Esterházy family for a staggering 300 years
  • Get inspired in the Haydnsaal concert hall – it's still one of the most technically perfect music venues in the world

To feast your eyes on Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt – one of the most breathtaking Baroque palaces in Austria – is to glimpse the decadence of the super-rich of centuries ago. Your guided tour will ensure you learn all about the history of this palace, built in the late 13th century and home to the powerful Esterházy family for over 300 years.

The jewel of Esterházy Palace is the Haydnsaal, known as one of the world's most impressive concert halls thanks to its perfect acoustics and remarkable interior design. Famous maestro Joseph 'Father of the String Quartet' Haydn composed many of his works right here.

Hundreds of years later, the palace is still a thriving cultural hub, with regular performances, concerts, and festivals held in its beautifully Baroque interiors.

Check your reflection in the Mirror Hall, which once served as the main reception of this fabulous palace, and climb up to the balcony to enjoy incredible views of Eisenstadt and beyond to Lake Neusiedl – Europe's second-biggest steppe lake.

Other highlights include the Banquet Hall and the Chinese Salon – decorated with intricate designs handpainted in the 18th century. It's easy to spend hours wandering the magnificent hallways and imagining the incredible history these walls have witnessed!

Melinda Esterházy

The palace's latest exhibition traces the fairytale life of Melinda Esterházy – the Hungarian ballet dancer who married Prince Paul Esterházy V. The exhibition is structured like an opera, so you can walk through the different 'acts' of her glamorous life and career.
