  • Learn more about St. Stephen's Cathedral with an audio-guided tour of this famous Viennese landmark
  • Climb the Cathedral's impressive towers and venture below to see the catacombs of medieval royalty
  • Visit Dom Museum Wien and see the Otto Mauer collection of modern art, as well as relics from the 14th century

It took more than 350 years for Vienna's main cathedral to be built, with kings and dukes adding extensions and spires to a ruined church since 1160. Since then, the Cathedral has seen some of the most notable events in Austria's history, with 72 members of the Habsburg dynasty in the church's catacombs, and the spires of the tower serving as a Viennese landmark.

Before you learn more about it on your tour though, make sure to get a look at St. Stephen's ornate roof – decorated with 230,000 colored tiles to create the Habsburg double-headed eagle. Inside, you'll learn about the cathedral's importance to Vienna, journey underground to see catacombs that house some 11,000 dead, and climb the Noth and South Towers.

After absorbing the Art Deco of the interior, bring yourself back to the 21st century with a collection of contemporary artwork at Dom Museum Wien. There's a combination of old and new, including a portrait of Duke Rudolf IV – one of the Cathedral's oldest benefactors – which dates back to 1360.
