From Titian to Rubens: Masterpieces from Antwerp and other Flemish Collections
Now on - Mar 1, 2020 (ends in 3 days)

An array of masterpieces from Antwerp and other Flemish collections will be showcased at the Palazzo Ducale until March 2020. Both Flemish and Venetian school artists will be on display, including David Bowie's precious piece by Tintoretto – an altarpiece of Saint Catherine that was owned by the musician before being sold after his death in 2016.

For many of the privately-owned works on display, this will be their first public showcase. See works by van Dyck, Michiel Sweerts, and Rubens, as well as Titian's works Portrait of a Lady and her Daughter and Jacopo Pesaro being presented by Pope Alexander VI to Saint Peter.

Description

Get fast-track access to the Doge's Palace in Venice. The exterior hints at its beauty, and inside – with a golden staircase, triumphal arches, and frescoed walls – you'll get a sense of the splendor and power contained within. This ticket also gets you access to other key sights on St. Mark's Square such as Correr Museum, Biblioteca Marciana, and the Archeological Museum.

The first Doge's Palace was built on this spot in the 9th century, but was destroyed in a fire. The present Gothic palace dates back to the 14th century (with many renovations and refurbishments done along the way). However, it stands tall as a beautiful reminder of the power of the Venetian Republic.

To enter the Doge's Palace is to travel back in time and uncover the history and culture of the City of Masks. Inside, you'll find fantastically ornate rooms, decorated by artists such as Titian, Veronese, Tiepolo, and Tintoretto.

Another highlight is walking the notorious Bridge of Sighs – so named for the laments of the convicted criminals as they made their way to the New Prisons.
