In personal development, growth rarely happens in a linear fashion, but through reframing and learning from challenges and setbacks. If ever there was an artist who was able to reframe his world, again and again through strife and pain, it was Vincent van Gogh. Now, an exciting new exhibition compiled by four young Amsterdammers takes up the legacy of Vincent's visionary creativity, and reframes his art and letters in a contemporary context, providing fresh perspectives on Van Gogh's timeless work.
One focuses on growth through mental disorders, while another highlights Van Gogh’s perseverance which remained steadfast in the face of many setbacks and tragedies. One identifies with Van Gogh’s search for a style of his own, and another recognizes the peace he found in nature. Erratic Growth will show how all of these deeply human themes are as relevant today as they were in Vincent's time.

The Van Gogh Museum displays over 200 of Vincent van Gogh's works, including landscapes, still lifes and drawings, and letters. By displaying them alongside works from Van Gogh's contemporaries, viewers get real insights into his life and work.
The museum itself is comprised of two buildings. The main building, designed by Gerrit Rietveld, Joan van Dillen, and J. van Tricht, opened in 1973. The second building, designed by Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa was added in 1999. Located in Amsterdam's Museumplein (along with the Stedelijk and Rijksmuseum), the Van Gogh Museum is one of the most-visited museums in the Netherlands.
