Coal Mine Valkenburg is a unique location in Limburg where former miners lead underground tours of old working coal mines. It's easy to reach by car or with public transport.

Located on Amsterdam’s Dam Square, this cabinet of curiosities showcases more than 500 exhibits and artifacts in its five floors. The items, ranging from actual Olympic torches to a very unusual Fabergé egg, are organized in 19 themed galleries. There’s also a spacious café with a view to the square and a 5D cinema on the fourth floor.

One of the oldest (and biggest) castles in all of the Netherlands, Hoensbroek Castle is a stronghold of Dutch cultural history located in the pastoral province of Limburg. Over the centuries it's been home to knights, barons, royals, and poets, and was also used as a shelter for orphans after World War II. Given its age, the castle has also seen its fair share of architectural redesigning over the years, and is now a patchwork of historical styles, with an ancient watchtower its last remaining original feature. It is surrounded by a large dramatic moat, which may or may not contain the mythical Hoensbroek Monster.

GaiaZOO is a unique zoo in the Netherlands, containing over 2,000 animals. It offers visitors the chance to travel the world in one day, from the savannah to the rainforest. The zoo is located in Kerkrade.

Thermenmuseum opened in 1977, after an archaeological excavation uncovered what is now the best preserved Roman bathhouse in the Netherlands. The museum allows visitors to wander raised bridges and get an exceptional view of the 2000-year-old site. There are also exhibitions of fascinating Roman artifacts, tools and trinkets, as well as a dazzling 3D light show depicting what the baths would have looked like in their day.

Plopsa Indoor Hasselt is an amusement park in the east of Belgium. The attractions - both indoor and outdoor - are based on characters from the Flemish TV production company Studio 100.

Plopsa Coo is a family theme park packed with entertainment options, rides, shows and a giant gnome called Plop. It's located in Stavelot, Belgium, and is easy to reach from the Netherlands and Antwerp by car.
