Live musical tour in Dutch or English (optional)
  • Discover the unsung history of self-playing instruments with an all-singing collection of clocks, music boxes, orchestrions, street organs and more!
  • Enjoy a guided tour to learn all about the history of musical automata, and see famous instruments like the Arabier Organ and the Violina
  • Get hands-on with interactive displays and see how the restoration team takes care of the instruments - some of which are 500 years old!

Enjoy a musical and whimsical day out at Utrecht's Speelklok Museum, and surround yourself with 'live' music performed by a huge collection of self-playing instruments. With more clocks, music boxes, orchestrions, and street organs that you can wave a conductor's baton at, it's a showcase of ingenious engineering and fascinating insight into life before the iPod.

Explore centuries of self-playing instruments and musical automata dating as far back as the 1600s.

Everything at the Speelklok Museum has been lovingly restored to its original working condition, so strolling through the museum is like being surrounded by your own personal symphony as the various contraptions are brought to sonorous life.

Kids will love checking out all the musical 'robots', and there's plenty of interactive displays and hands-on experiences that show exactly what makes them tick.

Insider tip

The delightful (and free) guided tour will teach you all about the history of hands-free music making.

Interesting museum suitable for children.
A bit unorganized in the information, they forgot to give us some stuff we needed in the exhibition and had to go back and ask for them..
