The USS Hornet is the eighth US Navy ship to carry this distinguished name. Her namesake dates back to one of the first ships in the Continental Navy. With her creed, 'A Heritage of Excellence,' the USS Hornet bears an impressive list of achievements, including nine battle stars earned for her WWII service, survived 59 attacks without ever being hit, supported nearly every Pacific amphibious landing after March 1944, and performed the flawless recovery of Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 astronauts.

Aquarium of the Bay

Aquarium of the Bay is located at San Francisco's popular PIER 39. Its focus, as the name suggests, is local aquatic animals from the San Francisco Bay (and nearby waterways). There are three main exhibit areas, each with a specific point of focus. The most thrilling is the underwater tunnel, though the touch pools and naturalist talks also help make this an exciting and interactive way to get to know the bay.

Battleship Missouri Memorial

Built during World War II, the Battleship Missouri finished production in time to serve at the battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Designed to be a fast battleship, just like her Iowa-class sisters – USS Iowa (BB 61), USS New Jersey (BB 62), and USS Wisconsin (BB 64) – the Missouri was the youngest of the fleet. Measuring 887'3" (270.4m) in length, the ship could travel faster than 33 knots, a notable difference from her Japanese contemporaries and their 26-knot capacity. During a tour of the ship, you'll have the chance to explore the decks and learn fascinating facts about the Missouri's past.
