The tour guide was excellent -- detailed information that she truly seemed to understand herself, which impressed me as the engineering and history were pretty complex.

The Sloten Windmill is a functioning draining mill. Known in Dutch as the Molen Van Sloten, it is also the only windmill in Amsterdam which is open to the public on a daily basis.

The Sloten Windmill is located on the outskirts of Amsterdam, not too far from Schiphol Airport. It is easily reached by car and public transport.
