June 2022 sees the historic celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, including a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.

To mark this unique event, the exhibition 'St Paul’s, the Monarch and the Changing World' explores the grand ceremonial occasions held at the cathedral to commemorate the Royal Jubilees of four British monarchs: George III, Victoria, George V and Elizabeth II.

These Jubilee celebrations weave a thread of continuity through the social, political and technological changes in Britain over the past 200 years, and this fascinating exhibition introduces each monarch, their world, and the important part St Paul’s played in them all.

With a wealth of material from the archives, these rich stories are presented alongside photographs, prints, paintings, and treasures, including historic vestments worn during these magnificent occasions.

Though most famous for the imprisonments and beheadings held there it has, at various times, served as the royal residence, mint, menagerie, armory, observatory and as the holding place for the Crown Jewels - a function it still serves. Legend has it that six ravens must guard the tower at all times, or else the kingdom (as in United Kingdom) will fall. The ravens are still there, and so is this nearly thousand year old complex of stocky stone structures.
