Access to Lubaantun Visitor Center and Museum
  • Explore an ancient Maya sacred site at a quiet spot in southern Belize – there aren't often too many tourists here
  • Imagine how many human sacrifices might have been made in the huge, crumbling pyramid, and find out about the crystal skull
  • Climb the steps and soak up the atmosphere and structures, built mostly from large slate blocks and laid with no mortar

You'd better Belize it! Lubaantun is the largest Maya site in southern Belize and you'll spot it a mile off thanks to its unusual construction style. The Maya lived at Lubaantun for only a few centuries (roughly 700-900 AD) before abandoning it.

Put your Indiana Jones hat on and climb up the steps. Lubaantun, which means the place of the fallen stones, was once a sacred site. It comes packed with paranormal myths and legends, including the legend of an excavated crystal skull.
