  • See ancient jewelry, pottery, bronze and marble sculptures that pre-date the Romans, and which were excavated at Cerveteri
  • Marvel at masterpieces such as the 6th century BC Apollo from Veio and the Dea con Bambino (Goddess with a Baby)

Imagine the excitement at the excavation sites when they first uncovered these Etruscan and pre-Roman treasures! Skip the line to the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia and wander among artifacts that originated in actual burial tombs. This museum is in Pope Julius III's country retreat, and full of fascinating statues, frescoes, and more.

From temple decorations to black bucchero tableware, to bronze figurines, terracotta, and various jewelry, there's enough pre-Roman bling to keep you dazzled for hours at The National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia.

Located near Villa Borghese, not far from the National Gallery of Modern Art, it's an easy-to-reach slice of Italian history. Peruse the different sections dedicated to the most important facets of Etruscan civilization.

I love the Etruscans. They really seems to know how to live, and they left us so many wonderful art works to show us how they did it.
