Highlights & Description

  • See a collection of over 800 rare antique instruments from around Italy and Europe
  • Marvel at one of the last three Bartolomeo Cristofori pianos left in the world - also the one in best condition!
  • See the oldest German harpsichord in the world, the famous Arpa Barberini harp, and lots more amazing relics of the past

Rome's National Museum of Musical Instruments is home to over 3,000 handsome antique instruments, some of which date back as far as the 15th century. So roll Bach the years and meet these rare retired beauties in the flesh.

See one of the last surviving Bartolomeo Cristofori pianos, dating all the way back to 1722. There are just three of these rarities left in the world (and the one here is in the best condition).

The oldest known German harpsichord still in existence is another sight not to be missed. Dating back to 1537, it's a true relic of the Baroque era.

The antique woodwind instruments will take your breath away, while the timeless violins will pluck your heartstrings in harmony with the famous Arpa Barberini harp.

Excellent collection but sadly style of exhibiting objects do not live up to historical value of gathered objects. This museum deserves more care and better, more up to date way of showing unique...
