Enter this ex-monastery for a jaw-dropping encounter of the arty kind. Over 3,000 works have their home here at Rome's Modern Art Gallery. See art from the late 19th century, right up to the Second World War.

Browse the huge collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and engravings and be wowed by works by the likes of Balla, Morandi, De Pisis, De Chirico, Carrà, Severini, Guttuso and Savinio.

You'll also see a pattern in artistic trends in the first half of the 20th century. Witness the Novecento Italiano, Magic Realism and Futurism, all in a building that was once a monastery for cloistered Carmelite nuns.
