Almost could not make this event due to not having a rental car and all. Had a lot of issues prior but this experience was worth the troubles I endured. First time in Canada and this was the...
Almost could not make this event due to not having a rental car and all. Had a lot of issues prior but this experience was worth the troubles I endured. First time in Canada and this was the highlight of my 2nd day. Loved hearing about the history behind the winery and I will be taking home a bottle or 3 to have my coworkers sample some Icewine.

About: Reif Estate Winery

One of Niagara-on-the-Lake's founding family wineries, established in 1982 by The Reif Family and later fulfilled by Klaus W. Reif, Reif Winery produces wines from its 125-acre vineyard first planted in 1977. Located in the Niagara River sub-appellation, where sun-loving grape varieties thrive, the vineyard benefits from a long growing season refined by the presence of the river, which helps mitigate early spring and late fall frosts.

The vineyard is situated in Ontario's warmest sub-appellation, making it an ideal location for the production of rich, full-bodied wines. Additionally, it is home to some of the oldest vinifera plantings in Canada, which is advantageous for growers in cooler climates like Ontario as these mature vines ripen earlier. This unique aspect contributes to wines that truly reflect the 'terroir,' allowing the essence of the vineyard to be tasted and appreciated in every sip!
