The online guide is available in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and Czech language.

  • Get a short introduction in English to the history, significance, and meaning of this remarkable piece of medieval engineering
  • See the famous 600-year-old astronomical clock on your own and skip the long lines to get into its tower
  • Get spectacular views of the City of a Thousand Spires from the top

Waiting in line to visit a clock is a paradox of wasted time folding in upon itself. This skip-the-line ticket gets you right in, so you can visit the Gothic clock tower and see the insides of the world's oldest operational astronomical clock.

Meet your assistant at the Get Prague Guide office to pick up your tickets. While picking up the tickets you'll have a 20-minute introduction about the history and main information on the tower, so once you get there it will feel like you know the place.

Then, visit the clock on your own. Every hour two small trapdoors open and the twelve apostles march out to tell their stories. The Grim Reaper also rings a bell, checking to see whose time has come (unsurprisingly, everyone shakes their heads 'no').

There are also planetary motion, the zodiac and more on the clock - and 75% of its parts are original, like 'from-the-15th-century' original.

You'll get to skip the lines and take the stairs or an elevator up the tower. From there you'll have amazing views over the Old Town Square and the rest of Prague's Old Town.

On your way back down, you can think on the staying power of this clock. It's an appropriate occasion to call to mind the words of English essayist Henry Austin Dobson:

Time goes, you say? Ah no! Alas, Time stays, we go.

That ought to encourage you to make the most of your time in Prague.

Our guide told us some stories and info about Prague and the center of town, the astronomical clock, gave us our ticket to enter the town hall without queuing and told us where to enter and how to make the most of our visit. It was fun!
However, keep this in mind: This "skip the line" experience here could be worth it or not, depending on several factors that you can / can't anticipate: - If the front desk queue at the town hall building isn't too long, then it's not worth adding 8eur or so per person to get the ticket beforehand and get a bit more explanation before entering. But if the queue is gigantic, it's worth it. Unfortunately, you can't know this beforehand. - If you want to go in, explore on ur own, climb the stairs to the tower, then yes, this is worth it. But if you want to book a spot for a guided tour inside the building (included in the price of the ticket) or buy extra tickets for the tower elevator, then you still have to queue, because those can't be done online. Only at the front desk, with the rest of the people who don't have an entry ticket.
When we did this tour, the queue wasn't too long, and we entered the building with tickets, so we were able to skip most of the line. But when we asked about the guided tour and elevator tickets, we were told we had to wait in line, so we kind of joined the queue in the middle. So we saved a bit of time, but still had to wait a bit.
Other than that, I definitely recommend taking the guided tour inside the town hall. It takes you through the undergrounds too (which you can't access on your own), you learn a lot, and it gives you a different perspective on what you're seeing.
